Was it all a LIE?

I call my mum as usual before I sleep on 21st June 2022 and gives me the news that they received their annual bonus earlier than expected. But why Munya? Over the year CS Munya has promised tea farmers of better pay but alas they receive their bonus In June when it is supposed to be released in October as the norm. Is the national elections leading to all of this changes. But why the reduction in the bonus payment.   The dollar seems to rise and as tea is exported, they expected a rise in their payments because the pay is supposedly higher. I really hope the presidential candidates this year are keen on seen this drastic drop in tea farmers bonuses. The current president uhuru Kenyatta should also comment on why the change of the prices, why the bonus came earlier than expected and why the promise from the promise from the government on getting a higher bonus rate was not fulfilled. This is such a bad feeling for all the tea farmers especially now that it is coming ...

First Things First Mr.President

In the President’s speech on Labour Day at Uhuru park grounds; there was a mention of Kenyan’s putting on new clothes made in Kenya as opposed to putting on second hand clothes. It’s a very nice thing, but second hand clothes can never be done away with.
Image result for first things firstWith the 18% wage increase announced on Labour Day, the extra amount can only be used to buy food not clothes. People buy second hand clothes because they’re cheap and secondly unique. Ever heard of the term ‘Kenya Uniform?’ Yah that’s what people avoid when they don’t buy brand new clothes. There is the tendency of when new clothes are sold, many people get to buy and hence almost all of you get the same look.
Everybody wants to be unique. However if you want to be unique with brand new clothes you have to dish out some extra cash. As for the females ,unique clothes goes up to Ksh 10,000 and even more .People buy but trust me only the middle and elite will get to buy such kind of clothes.
The ‘Kawaida Mwananchi’ will prefer going to the market and with  about Ksh 1000,one will take home a couple of clothes for him/herself and his/ her family members.
The prices of basic commodities especially maize flour, sugar and milk has become too exorbitant.
Someone living in Nairobi and earning Ksh 300 survives only by the grace of God.  Even living in rural areas also becomes hard because prices of commodities have been raised countrywide.
The President should have hence spoke on reducing food prices before touching on the clothes area .You cannot expect someone to dress up well on an empty stomach it’s just not practical.
That should be politician’s focus and goal in their campaigns as they look forward to becoming our next leaders come 8th August 2017 for the next 5 years. You can only win people’s hearts by relating to their needs. Let politicians try and fit in our shoes and fix the problem .The rest can come later.
First things first,Mr. President.
