It’s yet another year, how time flies.2017 seemed to be a
long year for me as a Kenyan .It was full of politics as Kenya had its general
elections held for 8th August 2017.Push and pulls from all sides of the
political divide, economic times were at a terrible state with the basic needs
being hard to fulfill. Jobs being hard to get despite having academic papers.
Times
are of God, we thank God for year 2017,God has been good to us as a country,
going through the political campaigns and the general election. We then went
through a repeat election after the August 8th elections were nullified .A lot
of Kenyans lost their lives out of the riots the opposition party initiated.
The country was sort of divided out of the political affiliations and along
tribal lines as well .Tribes in Kenya hated one another and the 2007-2008
skirmishes were almost divided. After the repeat elections on 26th October,
there was another petition brought forth to the court and the court dismissed
the petitions and the President elect then Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in as
president for the 2nd time. Well the opposition was not going give them a
smooth ride as they threatened to swear their leader and his running mate Raila
Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as their president and deputy president during
Jamhuri Day on 12th December 2017. Well that ended up not happening and they
postponed it to a later date .It’s now 2018 and the opposition has given 30th
January 2018 as the day Raila and Kalonzo will be sworn in.the opposition for
sure will through Uhuru's 5 year term put the government on its toes and hence
its not going to be an easy time but all in all the country has to move, its
politics hence there has to be a government and an opposition and both have a
right to do what they ought to do.
Let us as Kenyans learn to always keep our
country in prayer , let us be committing our leaders in prayer as well ,they
need God as they rule this country and lead it towards greater heights. May
2018 be a year where tribal lines come to an end ,let us love each other as
fellow Kenyans .Tribes are beautiful and we must embrace them but we must never
let them come in between us and take away our peace and harmony .Let peace be
our shield and defender.
