I may have not been born in the era when Kenneth Matiba was politically active but for sure its a name even in the generation to come that will remain relevant.
Seeing his state of health in the past recent years is proof that he was really tortured and ruined. No one should face such just because he is doing what he feels is right for him and his country.
Matiba fought for multiparty democracy and intended to rule this great country of Kenya at one point.Perhaps those that tortured him feared his victory over their's but why want to be on the better side of life while your fellow competitor is languishing in a terrible state of health.
Now is when the statement " Health is your wealth" really makes sense.Matiba was a wealthy man with investments front, right and center but how will you be happy if you are robbed of your health.
The Bible clearly states in Matthew 7:12 that " So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets". I know for sure that the people that led him to get the stroke that he has been suffering with for more than 20 years now, always have some guilt conscious disturbing them in their minds and especially now that Matiba's story has been revived in Kenya following his demise.
Matiba's death should be a wake up to all Kenyans as a country and also at an individual's level to always appreciate those who are around us,those we love, hate, those we've hurt in the past when they are alive.
Now is when the country and those that know of Matiba's story are thinking of giving him praise by ' Naming one of the streets after him, having his statue somehere in the Nairobi central business district. But why now should be our question?
Matiba died at 85 years old ? Thats a long period of living having started his political career at age 31.Despite all that, he will forever be in Kenya's political history.
No one is ever going to live forever, this earth is just but a passing cloud.
Lets do good when we always can ,it will never hurt and it does feel great anyway.Rest in Peace Kenneth Matiba.
