Was it all a LIE?
It is a new year with new expectations, the year is 2022. Kenyans were looking forward to it especially because it is an election year. there is a lot of anxiety and anticipation as to what 2022 will bring to our country Kenya and the individuals themselves.
People have expectations of having better lives, getting a pay rise at work, traveling to places they have never been to, meeting people they always aspired to meet, and last but not least having their favorite person win. I have not written down any articles since November 2021.
I guess, that came with the excitement of my master’s degree graduation on 12th November 2021. The past year, 2021 was not such a bad year, especially after president Uhuru Kenyatta took away the curfew from Kenyans lives on 20th October 2021.
However, that was not all, as there were still things Kenyans had to battle with. there were increasing prices in the purchase of fuel, cooking gas, and foodstuffs in general. Electricity bills were also not left aside, keeping in mind that the world was still struggling to put up with the covid-19 pandemic. It is sad because that is still something we have to keep batting with.
Now, there is the booster vaccine that KENYANS ought to get on top of the first two covid-19 vaccine shots they received through the year 2021. There are however still a lot of Kenyans who are hesitating to receive the covid-19 vaccine. A lot of misconceptions on the consequences of receiving the vaccine, some say they may never be able to conceive, others fear the pain of the shot or nausea that comes with it.

At the end of the day, a vaccine is there to prevent you from contracting a disease or virus. Some reactions may come with getting the shot, but that comes and goes, but covid-19 is not going away soon. some variants keep up, the latest being omicron. My prayer is that Kenyans may get it clear on why the vaccine is necessary and that one is better off having it. Let Kenyans begin 2022 with a clear understanding of why the covid-19 vaccine is necessary.
Another thing that Kenyans need to go into 2022 is that our leaders must campaign and words must be exchanged. It does not mean because leaders are vying for positions with different parties, that they hate each other as Kenyan citizens perceive it.
the literal understanding of Kenyans is what leads the general Kenyan citizens to start violence or riots during campaigns or after election results are out. I just came across a Facebook post of ruto wishing Raila Odinga, a happy 77th birthday. Now, what does that tell you as a Kenyan citizen? these leaders will keep tapping each other’s shoulders, their children will meet up and they will continually live lavish lives.
the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former prime minister, Raila Odinga, brought in some peace and calm in Kenya. The president was able to lead the country with calm despite there being many misunderstandings about the handshake in the country. It is now upon you and me, to choose a candidate at all levels from the potential they have to deliver what they ought to deliver in our country. let us choose the best for Kenya. let peace reign upon us, let us be at the forefront of keeping away tribalism and corruption away by starting with ourselves as individuals. let it be not about us being Kikuyu or jaluo, hence I will be forced to vote for my fellow tribesmen. let no one be coerced to vote for what they do not see work but vote for what one is contented with. tusimame pamoja sisi wote hii mwaka. 2022 is going to work if we do it right.
