Kenya has become a living hell for many Kenyan residents.Costs of almost everything is raising and life is becoming unbearable.I enter into a supermarket to buy the usual packets of long life milk particularly Lato brand and they happen to be selling at Ksh.47 for one pack of 500ml.
The last time i bought they retailed for Ksh. 42 a pack ,Ksh.5 on top in one month yet its Carrefour, the supermarket with cheaper goods as per now according to me .Lets go to the tissue section ,the same hike applies some go up to Ksh.40 hike and its the same story to very shelf one goes to pick an item.So where should we head too if we earn the same amount of cash and have to spend on the same for our livelihoods.Quite a sad state of economy that we are facing.A shopping bag of Ksh.1000 now holds very little goods as opposed to some years bag when one's shopping bag was weightier.
At some point my dad would purchase a land of 10 acres for as little as Ksh.10,000 now but then that was a lot of money, that land for sure was damn expensive. Now for 10 acres of land, one needs millions of cash, even for one to purchase a decent 2 bed-roomed house ,you got to have invested quite a lot.So the generation after me probably will have to work really hard to live a decent life.
But the irony is i got the academic papers,a job is hard to come across,so is an internship,as Lupita said, yes 'My dreams are valid' but should i always have to rely on another human being so as to get there.
The so called 'godfathers' are they necessary? Why is that that many youths apply for jobs and they hardly get shortlisted or if shortlisted they are hardly given the job.Not forgetting i did everything right, gave up cash for all the clearance certificates required,i have the degree and masters required and yes i applied for the entry job that doesnt require little or no experience at all but got nothing in return, *sobs*.
So now all one can do is get armed with the education but on the side have some ideas because the job doesn't have to go through. Its that hard getting to earn Ksh.30,000 even after getting a masters.Well only those who have applied and gotten the many regrets and several failed interviews can relate to this.
