Was it all a LIE?

Image
I call my mum as usual before I sleep on 21st June 2022 and gives me the news that they received their annual bonus earlier than expected. But why Munya? Over the year CS Munya has promised tea farmers of better pay but alas they receive their bonus In June when it is supposed to be released in October as the norm. Is the national elections leading to all of this changes. But why the reduction in the bonus payment.   The dollar seems to rise and as tea is exported, they expected a rise in their payments because the pay is supposedly higher. I really hope the presidential candidates this year are keen on seen this drastic drop in tea farmers bonuses. The current president uhuru Kenyatta should also comment on why the change of the prices, why the bonus came earlier than expected and why the promise from the promise from the government on getting a higher bonus rate was not fulfilled. This is such a bad feeling for all the tea farmers especially now that it is coming ...

Be prompt before someone gets their hopes up

I happened to process for my mum her national insurance health fund (NHIF) benefits for some procedures she underwent during this week. She was admitted in the high dependency unit (H.D.U) for three days and later for one day in the ward.In her stay in hospital she underwent several tests which were expensive given that were performed within Nairobi hospital's labs -among the tests were a Coronary arteriogram, echocardiogram, ultrasound-bilateral doppler and CT pulmonary angiogram. Thing is the NHIF office at Nairobi office told me to start off the process of her being paid for some amount before even checking through the status of her card.I had to go her doctor's clinic and get a report of her medical situation, filled a report and walk to the NHIF offices to and from twice. It was such a tasking process but i was ready to undertake if at all mum's bill would be lessened by NHIF paying some of it. Then to my surprise on my second visit to NHIF headquarters on 6th floor ...

Internships should be easily accessible now with the county governments

I am in full support of Governor Mandago's  move to have the 600 youths from Uasin Ngishu county go through internship to equip them with experience so they are ready for the job market. It is true that that most job requirements ask for 3-5 years experience yet the person applying for the job is just straight from the university. It is quite depressing seeing that one cant get a job simply because they lack experience for the said job. Let the challenge go to the other counties so that the Kenyan can use up the skills they have acquired in school and again as the saying goes " the future belongs to the them".  The retirement age stands at 60years hence many experienced people are still holding onto their jobs as the young linger in desperation of looking for livelihood. The struggle is real though, tarmacking ain't that easy. Many young Kenyans are getting tired of finding jobs after graduating with their first degree and go back to school for their postgraduat...

God Answers Prayers

And it finally happened God came through for me.I am sure there are a lot of Kenyan youth out there who are tarmacking, day in day out applying for a job.It is disheartening especially when someone is so hopeful of something only to see that they did not make it to the shortlisted lot or when they receive a regret email.I know that feeling trust. Just imagine God is thinking about yo,yes He has you in His thoughts ,yes you.Don't give up,keep applying, keep praying,PUSH is the word-Pray Until Something Happens. When it happens ,trust me you will see God really has great plans  for you.In Jeremiah 29:11,the Bible tells us "For I know the thoughts i think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil,to give you an expected end " -Holy Bible NIV version. My my just what a wonderful God we have, isn't he a God of promises and His promises are true and Amen. Surprisingly today's sermon in my church was 'God's promise of the Redeemer ' .God i...

Dont Just Spiritualise It,ACT ACT!

So the leader of the Opposition party and National Alliance Party presidential flag bearer  visited the sacred Western Wall in the biblical city of Jerusalem in Israel.I take that as a comendable gesture especially to our political leaders.God should always be involved even as politicians head towards the general. What irritates me is when politicians want to associate themselves to Christianity when campaigning. There is no point in them saying 'Bwana Asifiwe' simply because they want to warm in the crowd or the 'kawaida mwananchi'.A song in my local language sings ‘Mwathani aongocwe yatuikire ya ithero’ meaning Praise God has now become a joke. Our leaders should be leading in terms of doing what is right at all sectors lest our children the younger generation will follow suite. The church should speak on it because we do not want nor need to have pretenders religiously in the politically scene. Even though they are trying to 'do as the Romans do...

Faith Without Actions is Dead

In Raila Odinga’s , popularly known as RAO National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer exclusive interview by Citizen’s TV’s Hussein Mohammed on 4 th May , he mentioned that if he wins as President in the August 8 th election he will change a couple of things in his first 90days in office. Among them are food prices being subsidized and rent being lowered. We have had verbal promises from politicians over the years and once they get into office they just do shoddy jobs just to blind people, then bag cash and expand their territories then remember ‘wananchi’ when the 5 year term is almost elapsing. Then is when they creep back and humble themselves pretending to be nice and then campaign for the next election votes. If politicians think that will be the same song this time round, they better think twice. People are always enlightened with time and those people that voted in 2013 are not the same that will vote in 2017.Literally they are but their perceptions towards politician...

Pain of a Deteriorating Economy

Image
So today as I buy some bananas at a kiosk near my residence,I pluck the bananas I needed and give the shopkeeper 40Ksh.The shopkeeper could not believe I had given him the exact cash for the bananas I had plucked from the bunch he had outside his shop. One banana goes for ten shillings,I took four bananas hence I owed him 40Ksh.  The guy just had to pull out his head of the shop's window and see exactly how many bananas i had taken in order to give me the paper-bag to carry the bananas with. What if i took more bananas and gave the shopkeeper less money?Wouldn't i have taken the shopkeeper to a loss?Especially in such times of everything being expensive,he would have not forgiven me for denying him what he deserves. It looked funny seeing him refuse with the paper-bag but in essence that's the reality we are in right now as Kenyans. The Kenyan economy has just deteriorated.Things are not as they used to be.The economy is no longer stable.Everything all over sudden is expe...

First Things First Mr.President

In the President’s speech on Labour Day at Uhuru park grounds; there was a mention of Kenyan’s putting on new clothes made in Kenya as opposed to putting on second hand clothes. It’s a very nice thing, but second hand clothes can never be done away with. With the 18% wage increase announced on Labour Day, the extra amount can only be used to buy food not clothes. People buy second hand clothes because they’re cheap and secondly unique. Ever heard of the term ‘Kenya Uniform?’ Yah that’s what people avoid when they don’t buy brand new clothes. There is the tendency of when new clothes are sold, many people get to buy and hence almost all of you get the same look. Everybody wants to be unique. However if you want to be unique with brand new clothes you have to dish out some extra cash. As for the females ,unique clothes goes up to Ksh 10,000 and even more .People buy but trust me only the middle and elite will get to buy such kind of clothes. The ‘Kawaida Mwananchi’ will prefer...
