Was it all a LIE?

I call my mum as usual before I sleep on 21st June 2022 and gives me the news that they received their annual bonus earlier than expected. But why Munya? Over the year CS Munya has promised tea farmers of better pay but alas they receive their bonus In June when it is supposed to be released in October as the norm. Is the national elections leading to all of this changes. But why the reduction in the bonus payment.   The dollar seems to rise and as tea is exported, they expected a rise in their payments because the pay is supposedly higher. I really hope the presidential candidates this year are keen on seen this drastic drop in tea farmers bonuses. The current president uhuru Kenyatta should also comment on why the change of the prices, why the bonus came earlier than expected and why the promise from the promise from the government on getting a higher bonus rate was not fulfilled. This is such a bad feeling for all the tea farmers especially now that it is coming ...

Kenya should borrow a Leaf from Westernized countries

Just look at the additional jobs last month in the U.S, while we still wailing over the unemployment menace in Kenya...are our leaders ever curious about how to get here? Will we ever get here? Guess that remains a rhetorical question as to where we stand. Last night was AFCON final game Then Kenya ’s former Gor Mahia’s coach, Ghost Mulee can’t be maintained, It has become a trend now that our football teams keep changing local coaches with coaches coming from Westernized countries. Who even decides on this? Now that Kenya is an election year and the next leaders will take their seats come August 2022, it is a challenge for the upcoming leaders to work on seeing another sport bring Kenya to the Limelight in Africa let alone in the world, or should we just stick to Athletics? Senegal's WIN on 6th February 2022 was just epic. Young people want to be empowered, they need to see things brought to action and not empty promises every election year. People are tired of handouts, ...

Betrayal in Kenyan Politics

Image
Praying for Peace in 2022 Just yesterday that I watched two features focusing on the starvation of human beings and animals in parts of the country. One had the hashtag of (portraits of hunger) while the other (in the grip of hunger). Sad state of affairs in Marsabit County seeing people and animals die of hunger.  For the Kenyan politicians visiting all parts of the country, l et alone politicking, looking for votes all over the Country , a question from a lot of Kenyans who come out of their houses, close their businesses to be your audience, would be, are you watching what is happening especially you that has the powers to make a change? Is it just about you or do Kenyans ought to give you votes out of promises that are not known if they will ever be accomplished?  I may not be in a position to talk on behalf of a Kenyan living in Marsabit or the counties that experience drought but that is a state that one can easily run away from. Lack of food can only be dismissed by...

What 2022 holds for us all

Image
I t is a new year with new expectations, the year is 2022. Kenyans were looking forward to it especially because it is an election year. there is a lot of anxiety and anticipation as to what 2022 will bring to our country Kenya and the individuals themselves.   People have expectations of having better lives, getting a pay rise at work, traveling to places they have never been to, meeting people they always aspired to meet, and last but not least having their favorite person win. I have not written down any articles since November 2021.   I guess, that came with the excitement of my master’s degree graduation on 12 th  November 2021. The past year, 2021 was not such a bad year, especially after president Uhuru Kenyatta took away the curfew from Kenyans lives on 20 th  October 2021.   However, that was not all, as there were still things Kenyans had to battle with. there were increasing prices in the purchase of fuel, cooking gas, and foodstuffs in genera...

Lessen the retirement age from 60 years to the previous, 55 years of age.

Image
There are a lot of people who are qualified with skills, academic papers, and work experience required for them to be enrolled in a certain job. However, there are a lot of restrictions when it comes to people having their work experience from being a volunteer, an intern, and working on pro bo no . Why should someone be weighed on if they qualify for a certain position, let alone an entry position if at all the positions are always full?    The age group retiring now at 60 years and others way beyond because they lied while putting in their age are people of generations where jobs were easily accessible. In the past, people used to get out of campus and immediately get a pass into a good formal job in the government or even private organizations.    Things have however changed, there are lots of learned people now. The majority of Kenyans now have acquired a n undergraduate degree but the formal jobs are hard to access. One of the reasons for the in...

Unemployment menace could be the cause to the low turn out of people registering for their voters cards

Image
The voter's card registration ends on 2nd November 2021 with a very low turnout of Kenyans going to register themselves as voters. Voting is a democratic right , no doubt to that . But why are people not just enthusiastic about doing so when the next elections are fast approaching.  Kenya as well as the rest of the world are faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy has gone down and prices of commodities keep escalating. Life has now become so unbearable with people not being able to balance their money among their basic needs. This includes then having a decent living, buying food, getting one's children a quality education, and keeping an amount of money for future purposes (savings).  The meme below is not something to laugh about. It is the high rates of unemployment that lead people to such kinds of acts. This is not just in Kenya but on a global scale....so Mr. Politician why should I take a vote just because you keep repeating your government will provide empl...

Same Old Story Should Come to an End

Image
Kenya is nearing another electioneering year, 2022 where its citizen gets to choose new leaders for the next 5 years. Some political spirants especially those g arne ring for the top seat of the President of the Republic of Kenya began looking for votes and strategizing on how to win Kenyans to their side as early as 2017. That was the year, the last elections were held.  It is sad because the same people in the elected positions or per se in power in one way or another are the same ones who want to get votes , come the year 2022. Do they ever get work to work? Are the promises they made in 2017 fully accomplished? Until when will Kenyans be taken for granted? Don't we ever get tired f hearing the same story or receiving the same kind of promises from these politicians?  I am happy that a select few Kenyans are getting angry at the system and coming up with movements that speak to these politicians of the reality in the ground. This includes the strugglers ...
