Was it all a LIE?

Image
I call my mum as usual before I sleep on 21st June 2022 and gives me the news that they received their annual bonus earlier than expected. But why Munya? Over the year CS Munya has promised tea farmers of better pay but alas they receive their bonus In June when it is supposed to be released in October as the norm. Is the national elections leading to all of this changes. But why the reduction in the bonus payment.   The dollar seems to rise and as tea is exported, they expected a rise in their payments because the pay is supposedly higher. I really hope the presidential candidates this year are keen on seen this drastic drop in tea farmers bonuses. The current president uhuru Kenyatta should also comment on why the change of the prices, why the bonus came earlier than expected and why the promise from the promise from the government on getting a higher bonus rate was not fulfilled. This is such a bad feeling for all the tea farmers especially now that it is coming ...

Proud to be Kenyan

Image
When you hear of a marathon coming up and you really have it in your head that Kenya will have its way or rather be in the first three positions clinching the Gold, silver or bronze. This young men and women that are into the athletic profession really make Kenya proud and put it at a higher place in the world's athletics records. I would really wish that the younger generation is brought up embracing their talents and not just being in class and yet at the end of it all not all will clinch a job keeping in mind the state of unemployment in Kenya. Kudos to Eliud Kipchoge and Gladys Cherono, let them keep up their good work,it doesn't come that easily by the way.It took Eliud and Gladys a lot of effort, time, hard work and discipline for them to sow that high. They were the talk of the world, local ,international news, almost every social media platform, just out of a run of 2 hours. So every young person out there ,the 10 million or so that they pocketed, they worked for it and ea...

Inflation Boom a terrible pain to every Kenyan

Image
Kenya has become a living hell for many Kenyan residents.Costs of almost everything is raising and life is becoming unbearable.I enter into a supermarket to buy the usual packets of long life milk particularly Lato brand and they happen to be selling at Ksh.47 for one pack of 500ml. The last time i bought they retailed for Ksh. 42 a pack ,Ksh.5 on top in one month yet its Carrefour, the supermarket with cheaper goods as per now according to me .Lets go to the tissue section ,the same hike applies some go up to Ksh.40 hike and its the same story to very shelf one goes to pick an item.So where should we head too if we earn the same amount of cash and have to spend on the same for our livelihoods.Quite a sad state of economy that we are facing.A shopping bag of Ksh.1000 now holds very little goods as opposed to some years bag when one's shopping bag was weightier. At some point my dad would purchase a land of 10 acres for as little as Ksh.10,000 now but then that was a lot of...

My Opinion on the e-Citizen online services portal

Image
e-Citizen is such a great platform where one can access almost all government services especially those that expire in a short period of say an year that includes the Higher education loans board clearance certificate, certificate of good conduct from the directorate of criminal investigations, passport application and renewal among others. What is depressing especially for the youth is the loads of money they have to part yet most of the applications made via e-Citizen are mostly when they looking for jobs or government opportunities such as tenders. In my opinion the jobless should waived for the charges stated as they appear and actually are exorbitant for the 'kawaida' Kenyan.

Sad reality for Old age Kenyans

One of the big 4 agendas of the current government is health and its sad that the old age are always not counted in in the majority of insurance companies that we have in the country. As a matter of fact everyone is going to get old at some point. Everyone will get into their 60's and 70's soon and very soon and even beyond.Old is gold as they say, but why not treasure this gold then. It worries me that their health is taken for granted yet they are mostly prone to diseases then. When we look at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (N.H.I.F) they don't pay as much as Kenyans expect of them, again that's a sad situation. I do not know why insurances are so much afraid of the old people especially above 65 years. So they end up using up all their savings and investments on their health. So what are they supposed to eat and buy clothing with if they use up everything on their health? The President and his government should really put much thought on this. The old ha...

KeNHA opting for plastic signage to beat vandalism

Image
The use of metal signage's was obviously the best option since they are more long lasting than plastic ones. But the public gets opportune time to uproot them and sell them off as scrap metal to get easy money. But the lack of job opportunities in this country has led to all of this disruptions. If only young people were given platforms at whatever qualification one has then our country would be a safe to be. As young people we should be open to starting up things, thinking outside the box and not only waiting to be employed. This should start from how we bring up our young ones, training them that one can be an employer not just an employee. It is very disheartening seeing people with degree, masters and P.H.D qualifications roaming in the streets without jobs or merely working as a sales man/woman.But again they end having no choice but hanging on there and working on what they have. Goods and services on the other hand have blown out to higher charges, walking into ...

Charging of Deputy Chief Justice over graft

Image
I feel the director of public prosecutions (DPP) is doing his job. There should be no fear or favour when one is undertaking one's job.He is doing what has never been seeing happening in Kenya, one of a kind DPP,Noordin Haji is. I hope the evidence he has in store will be adequate enough for the people he has called upon to be arrested and charged with alleged criminal offences. All Kenyans can do now is sit back and watch the happenings afterwards, but not forgetting that corruption ends with you and me.Its starts with me and you as an individual saying no to all that counts as corruption. This will drive us to the end of it. The younger generation should also be brought up in ways showing them what is good and bad, even if some will go astray from their good upbringing it will always be at the back of their minds that Corruption is no good for themselves, their families, their country and the world.

Use Social Media Platforms Responsibly

Social media is the in thing in this day and age.No one no longer waits for the prime time news to know what's going on in the country and overseas.Twitter is mostly used to spread factual news as opposed to face book and other platforms that are used. Kenyans on twitter commonly known as K.O.T have been coming up with challenges and memes to gimmick the stories running down the country and the world. With social media, news becomes exciting and the talk of town in seconds. We are however going overboard and posting what should be somewhat 'Private' or rather intimate moments in the name of it being the norm and no one would not do it or post it. According to me the post that went viral about Asbel Kiprop and the said former MCA aspirant was somewhat indecent for the public to watch.Keeping in mind social media presence is full of all ages from young to old.Am very sure someone was looking up to Asbel as a mentor or someone one would want to emulate him given tha...

Kenyan visit by former US President Obama

Image
To my opinion majority of people in Kenya were not into the visit as much as the Kogelo village residents. The media informed us about it but i think to the people on the ground it wasn't the talk of town majorly because he came in when the Worldcup tournament was coming to a close. I think the visit wasn't timely nor was it long enough for the country to really be excited about it.Most Kenyans were looking forward to the last match of the Worldcup between France and Croatia. He should plan for a longer visit next time he plans coming to Kenya and not reserve himself or rather restrict Kenyans especially the Kogelo residents from interacting with him.Kenya loves, especially because he has roots from here.I like the fact that he mentioned that "he is related to almost everyone in Kisumu, that everyone was his cousin". It was laughable yes but yet still that is the truth for most of the Kogelo residents. Now that his presidential obligations are off,he should mak...

My Worldcup Experience

Image
FIFA 2018 was the best World cup i have ever watched,my first was in 2010 where i cheered on Ghana.I told my friend i would support France to clinch the win,not seriously of-course but here we are World cup 2018 champions is France. It is such a joy.Against all odds i stood firm on supporting France to the end while majority went for Croatia. I am so excited they won,Croatia did their part as well and they played well, getting to the finals and no.2 of the World cup is no joke.Football is a really fun sport i must say and if one has the talent, its the best profession one can ever be in.Big ups France once again.

Matiba was a Great Kenyan who deserves Great Commemoration

Image
I may have not been born in the era when Kenneth Matiba was politically active but for sure its a name even in the generation to come that will remain relevant. Seeing his state of health in the past recent years is proof that he was really tortured and ruined. No one should face such just because he is doing what he feels is right for him and his country. Matiba fought for multiparty democracy and intended to rule this great country of Kenya at one point.Perhaps those that tortured him feared his victory over their's but why want to be on the better side of life while your fellow competitor is languishing in a terrible state of health. Now is when the statement " Health is your wealth" really makes sense.Matiba was a wealthy man with investments front, right and center but how will you be happy if you are robbed of your health. The Bible clearly states in Matthew 7:12 that " So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this s...

Christ Centered Life

Image
7th January 2018 was the first Sunday of the year 2018.It was such a great day as i was looking forward to go to church, had a fresh energy for Jesus and i knew that is what i want to do in my life-praise and worship him. Well "Christ Centered Life" happened to my church's theme for the year 2018.Having Christ as the center of it all,he being the center of my life,my health,my education,my job,my family,my friends,my relationships you mention it. How many times do we involve God in our lives or in everything we do,in our everyday activities. Most of the times as human beings we assume we got it all.Waking up,cleaning up and going to work being safe-it seems like an obvious thing, like its the norm.Have we ever thought that if it were not for God being in-charge of our lives,we would not make it.That it is God who provides the air we breath,it is Him who keeps us alive, who keeps us alive even in our sleep, keeps us safe as we move from one point to another. If only we had t...

Matatu Night Ban Crisis

The matatu night ban by the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) has both its merits and demerits. I agree and not agree with it which is so much confusing .The drivers who were doing the night travels now will have no work to do hence that will lead some Kenyans to losing their jobs. If the ban will be from 6 pm then the Public service vehicle (P.S.V) is parked, the driver who drove the vehicle during the day can get time to rest and drive the following morning unlike earlier on when they used to do shifts among themselves. On the other hand the people who want to travel to the destinations and arrive during the day will have their plans disoriented. A lot of Kenyans have had to sleep through the night in lodgings and spend extra money or in the vehicles they will travel in, others in the bus stops or stages and hence insecurity, cold and a lot of discomfort bombards them .The Kenyans who can afford alternative means of  transport like taking a flight or a cab will not ...

Its a New Year-Year 2018 IT IS

Image
It’s yet another year, how time flies.2017 seemed to be a long year for me as a Kenyan .It was full of politics as Kenya had its general elections held for 8th August 2017.Push and pulls from all sides of the political divide, economic times were at a terrible state with the basic needs being hard to fulfill. Jobs being hard to get despite having academic papers.   Times are of God, we thank God for year 2017,God has been good to us as a country, going through the political campaigns and the general election. We then went through a repeat election after the August 8th elections were nullified .A lot of Kenyans lost their lives out of the riots the opposition party initiated. The country was sort of divided out of the political affiliations and along tribal lines as well .Tribes in Kenya hated one another and the 2007-2008 skirmishes were almost divided. After the repeat elections on 26th October, there was another petition brought forth to the court and the court dismis...
